A Memorable Eid pt.2

And I did not Create the jinn and humans except they should worship Me.

[Noble Quran 51:56]

1st Syawal 2010

I didn't catch up with the local news but as a result of the night's flood, we discovered that quite a number of our neighbors' house had to be closed. First Syawal was spent with families and friends draining off excess water and cleaning off dirt that came with it. Some threw off their carpets and rugs. One villager just bought a set of furniture that were destroyed by the rain. Morning feast for Eid celebration by a family (this was an annual thing) had to be cancelled as water entered their house. Another friend that lived by the hillside took one of the worse hit. The landslide caused a tree to fall and the kitchen wall crumbled under pressure.

The morning of 1st Syawal also sees family paying respect to the deceased. Family members went to the muslim cemetary to read Du'a for the deceased... That morning was to be a different sort of visit. Families were shocked to find that the cemetary located by the hillside suffered a landslide. Some tombstones were either washed away and buried in sand. Gone were the exact locations and markings of family member's burial site.

the area used to be full of tombstones... mostly old wooden ones that got washed away
All these happenings left me thinking. Allah did not create things for foolish reasons. Allah want us to think and learn from whatever that Allah wills. To the family of the deceased, do not be sad, for Allah is the best of protectors. Allah will take care of them in Barzakh. The tombstones is for us to remember them and what is important is our Du'a for them. Its is also to remind us that one of these days, it will be our time to join them (in Barzakh). No matter where they are, even if the graves are missing, they are well in Allah's protection, insyaAllah.

Wishing you, Allah's Blessings
Eid Mubarrak
Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri 1431
